Unfortunately we cannot plan many "fun" activities at this time but...we 're trying to be creative!

Dear friends

I wanted to share some really good news. Right at the start of the pandemic a lot of ladies from our Craft Group began making “scrubs bags”. These were for nursing staff to take home their uniform scrubs after their shifts and put them straight into a washing machine. After that we continued to make prem baby hats for the maternity unit at Russells Hall and small incubator size quilts for the neo natal unit at the hospital Sadly some of these were to be given to families whose little ones had died. We also made “Twiddlemuffs”  for dementia patients.

But, although scrub bags was the end of our part of the lockdown journey,  a group was born which I think was called “the love of scrubs.” From those small beginnings a huge organisation has grown. I went to a talk in the autumn given by their leader Trish Bradley. Some other members of our craft group were also there and we came away inspired. Above is a flyer which might give you a flavour of what they do. They work throughout the Dudley borough in the hospitals, care homes, womens refuge and with families who are struggling.

If you need knitting patterns for prem baby clothes or blankets please contact me and if you have any COTTON fabric, any knitting wool ( or this will sound bizarre) Cart d’Or ice cream cartons we could put them to really good use.
